Are you staying in our hotel? That is always handy to know, it would be great if you mention this in the online process.
We also like to know beforehand if you'd fancy eating outside (weather permitting). Moving your table to outside on the day, is not always possible anymore.
Will you please consider your arrival time well? That will enable us to prepare ourselves in these challenging times. Thank you!
When you book dinner at 6pm, we'll make sure you will be out in time to experience the Last Post.
Don't worry of your preferred arrival time no longer shows up, you can simply select the next slot. If you arrive early, there's always the bar where you can have a drink whilst you wait for your table.
The Corona crisis was disastrous for tourism. Suddenly everything closed down. The world just stopped. For the first time, all First World War Cemeteries were empty. No crosses, no poppy's, no wreaths. We just couldn't accept that.
It's good to feel that although we can't be together, we can still be united in our thoughts at this special time of the year. So we wanted to do what our overseas guest do every year: pay our respects. A simple google form with some basic details and we did the rest.
We have been completely bowled over by the amazing response to our Armistice message. On a sunny, autumnal Monday, members of the A-team headed out into the Ypres Salient, loaded with cemetery maps and poppy crosses. Unfortunately, owing to the Covid-19 restrictions, we were not able to cross the border into France yet, to lay crosses in cemeteries on the Somme. We will as soon as we can!
If you are one of the people who asked us to place a cross on your behalf within the Salient, you can now see a photograph of the grave or memorial here below. If you click on the photo, you can see it in full size.
For us, it was a very moving experience to perform this small act of remembrance and we would like to thank all those who got in touch with messages of support.
We will remember them.
